Water services at Strategen

Having worked extensively in water resource planning and management for government and industry, Strategen Environmental Consultants are well positioned with regulators to assist clients through the environmental assessment and approval processes under Western Australian and Commonwealth legislation, and are able to maintain compliance and strong regulator relations throughout the entire project life cycle.

Strategen provides a variety of water services including:

Urban water management in accordance with the Department of Water (DoW) and Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), Better Urban Water Management Guidelines, including:

  • district water management strategies (DWMS)

  • local water management strategies (LWMS)

  • urban water management plans (UWMP).

Strategen can undertake the groundwater and surface water monitoring required to support water management strategies and plans.  Strategen also have groundwater modelling capability using the industry standard Modflow model within the GMS modelling system.

Strategen has undertaken water management strategies and plans for constrained sites, including sites with large scale on-site wastewater disposal, sites within public drinking water source areas and sites with high groundwater levels. 

Strategen also specialise in water resource assessments to support agriculture and the irrigation of public open space and wood lots.  This includes the preparation of nutrient irrigation management plans (NIMPs), alternative water supply schemes, recycled water supply (third pipe) schemes, operating strategies and monitoring programs.

Strategen Environmental Consultants have facilitated a range of approvals necessary for development of water supplies. Our expertise includes:

  • water resources policy and strategy

  • water resource management plans, including operating strategies and land and water management plans

  • environmental impact assessment of water resource development proposals

  • water licensing and permitting

  • water quality protection, including acid sulphate soil management

  • urban water management

  • hydrological investigations.

Our capability is underpinned by senior staff with extensive experience in these aspects of the water industry in both the government and private sectors.

Strategen has expertise in determining ecological water requirements and environmental water provisions for surface and groundwater resources in order to determine sustainable yields.
