Bushfire Planning and Management

Strategen can undertake Level 1 BAL Assessments. Our assessments comply with requirements under Australian Standard 3959-2009 and involve comprehensive site assessments.

Our fire professionals take the time to discuss potential options with clients to assist them in achieving their objectives while at the same time meeting regulatory compliance requirements.

Prior to commencing development of habitable buildings or major alterations/additions to existing residential buildings, all sites designated as bushfire prone must have a BAL Assessment prepared, which establishes requirements under Australian Standard 3959-2009 for construction and set backs from vegetation to improve protection from bushfire attack.

Statutory Requirement:

  • Building Code of Australia - residential buildings and associated non-habitable buildings and decks on lots < 1,100m² and major alterations/additions to existing residential buildings.

  • SPP 3.7 - development applications on lots > 1,100m² and small-scale subdivision applications.
