Strategen's Water modelling capability

13 Dec 2017

Strategen’s water consulting capability has grown substantially throughout 2017 in response to the diverse needs of our clients. This includes our capacity to now provide in-house water modelling.

Strategen undertakes water and nutrient balance modelling using the MEDLI software package, which predicts nutrient uptake, leaching and transport from wastewater irrigation. MEDLI enables powerful optimisation in sizing irrigation areas and effluent storage, recently applied to the Water Corporation’s Waroona wastewater treatment plant.

Strategen has also undertaken water balance modelling for wastewater irrigation in the towns of Northam, Toodyay and Narrogin; and applied water balance analysis to determine the capacity of stormwater retention systems for a major heavy industrial facility in Karratha.

Strategen develops Local Water Management Strategies (LWMS) for major urban developments, recently receiving approval for an LWMS for a 133 ha, 1600-1700 lot development at Upper Swan.

Strategen is currently developing two precinct LWMS for Forrestfield North, including a 78 ha Activity Centre / Transit Oriented Development precinct, and a 100 ha Residential Precinct. In developing the two LWMS, Strategen advised on sustainability options including the feasibility of stormwater harvesting and Managed Aquifer Recharge to meet irrigation demands from public open space.

Strategen's in-house capability in hydrology, modelling and environmental engineering are serviced by our Water team - for more information on our services click here.
